This is an enjoyable read about a woman whose husband is injured in a helicopter crash along with another woman That s when Dianne Jenner starts to uncover the web of secrets her husband Gareth has maintained and they may not be exactly what you are expecting, or at least not all of them James North s wife Valerie is the pilot of the helicopter and injured in the same crash Despite difficulties in his marriage and family life James has tried to do the best for his family But has he gone about it [...]

4 stars Very enjoyable and a good ending Husband did despicable things I hadn t read before. This was a really good story with interesting secrets that I didn t expect and interesting ways of finding out about those secrets I liked the changes Diane went through It feels like women s fiction because there is a lot of story about various characters It feels like it s moving a little slow, but not really It just doesn t have the action and suspense that I m used to It s about ordinary people, how t [...]

I do like Moorcroft, she keeps it real.Plot Diane s husband is in a helicopter crush, and what he did in it in the first place she does not understand, until all the lies come out at once almost all He has been keeping some big secrets from her, and because of these secrets she meet James, loyal the core, nice, and there is something there. My thoughts Like I said, Moorcroft keeps it very real, I can see all these things happening so easily Romance is there, but it s slow, truthful and filled wit [...]

What I like about Sue Moorcroft s books is that she writes real people and manages to keep them real even when they plummet into some pretty dire situations Want to Know a Secret is a fascinating journey through the day to day struggles of people unexpectedly thrown together by sudden catastrophe Pity poor Diane finding out her husband s duplicity from the equivalent of a policeman on the doorstep And even then, it isn t the deception she automatically assumes it unravels in layers affecting an [...]

I really like Sue Moorcroft s writing Starting Over was superb, and All That Mullarkey even better, both highly recommended This one s a really good read, but seems to be by quite a different kind of writer until I realised it s a re published older novel Family Matters and has in common with Uphill All The Way than her newer stuff Don t come to it expecting chick lit, because it really isn t The story s excellent though Diane s husband Gareth is a real toad, and she s a well described strong w [...]

    Brilliant book.

Judy & Marianne from Long and Short Reviews

In a tangle of in law relatives that she did not know existed, Diane Jenner changes into a vibrant, can do woman after twenty five years of being controlled by her disgruntled husband Gareth Gareth had told his secret family that she was in poor health and agoraphobic When James, the secret brother in law, tries to manage her time and affairs, she informs him that she is not ill, is not an imbecile, and will not tolerate being patronized Gareth and his half sister Valerie are in a helicopter cra [...]

I have struggled to pick between 3 and 4 stars for this one I really liked it up until about two thirds of the way through, and then it fell a bit flat, although it was still fairly enjoyable The story begins when Diane is told that her husband has been in a helicopter crash with his half sister Valerie This sends Diane into confusion because, as far as she is aware, her husband Gareth has no step sister and would have been at work, slaving away as they don t have a lot of money, and certainly n [...]

An easy read that you don t have to concentrate on too much Good for holidays or if you like reading whilst multi tasking

This book was given to me to review by Choc Lit publishing I was not paid for my review and the opinions are entirely my own.Normally if I was in a book shop, I would avoid this genre I am ashamed to say No I loved this book.Diana Jenner gets a visit from the Police to say that her husband has been injured in a helicopter crash She tells them they must have the wrong person as her husband wouldn t be in a helicopter She is shocked when they confirm that it is her husband She then discovers that [...]

This novel which I read on my Kindle after an inexpensive download begins with what could have been rather a cliched scene two large policeman dominate Diane s kitchen, bringing some bad news Her husband Gareth has been in an accident, although they think he will pull through But it rapidly becomes almost surreal The circumstances surrounding the accident sound so unlikely that Diane wonders if it s in fact a different guy And then, when persuaded that it is indeed her husband, she meets some pe [...]

Sue really does create delicious heroes James is the support mechanism in his family, and you find yourself really empathising with him The secrets just keep coming Diane gets a wake up call in life basically She learns to fight back and take charge, though still managing to put her family first, like James, which creates a great conflict for their relationship And we all LOVE conflict But I loved Diane, enjoyed watching her get stronger and stronger As I ve seen someone else review, Sue does ke [...]

I have read Sue Moorcroft s books before, and they remain warmly in my heart Want to Know a Secret is typically Sue Moorcroft in that it s amazingly romantic and packed with gorgeous hero moments that leave you longing to step inside the book and melt into the world of love But it s also packed with real life family troubles, family rifts, family you didn t know about, family you wish you didn t know about and could forget, guilt, greed, depression and money troubles to name just a few.I have al [...]

I found the story engrossing, because it was well told and from the outset and the characters were realistic The opening paragraphs introduce Diane as she is informed by two policemen that her husband has been involved in a crash a helicopter crash Diane s emotions are sent into a spin because as she sits in her modest little house out in the country she can t imagine Gareth her domineering husband having anything to do with helicopters. When it s confirmed that it s her husband in A E and she go [...]

I enjoyed this and there were some very funny thoughts or remarks from Diane especially in it It s my first by this author and I d like to read another although reading up on her other books they all seem to run in a similar vein so I might wait a while.Diane was truly wronged by her husband in this story He was a shit of the highest order, I have to say Although I wondered at her taste in men.e meets James who seems lovely but his whole life seems to revolve around his daughter Tamzin Yes, she [...]

Money corrupts A tale of how secrets always have a way of coming out, no matter how clever you think that you ve been.I really did love this book and was quite shocked at the betrayal of the lead character by her husband, not because of his adultery that we discovered later on but because of his lies and manipulation over money,I then contemplated which is worse I know my answer it was the same as Diane, the lead character, who had been put down by her husband for too long, it would have been qui [...]

When Diane Jenner is told about the accident in which her husband has been seriously injured, she thinks car Learning he was actually in a helicopter at the time is only the first of a series of surprises she is about to receive a family, a second home, a loaded bank balance and there s As Gareth recovers and the story unfolds, we see Diane growing in strength and gradually taking control of her life a life very different from the one she had been living. But, as with all Choc Lit books, we also [...]

Diane gets a call from the Police, her husband has been badly injured in a helicopter crash At first she is disbelieving, her husband has never been in a helicopter in his life they aren t those sort of people But soon she finds out that her husband has a lot of secrets. The initial premise is not new there was that film with Harrison Ford and whatsherface Kristen Scott Thomas where their respective spouses die in a plane crash which has similarities although, I hasten to add, the actual story is [...]

I am a huge fan of all of Sue Moorcroft s books This is the third book I have read, written by her, the other s being Starting Over and All That Mullarkey This book is about Diane Jenner, Gareth Jenner, James North and Tamzin North, mainly Having suddenly found out a secret, after a helicopter crash, that will change their lives forever, James and Diane begin a journey that will be like no other The one thing they have in common Money James has money, Diane has none but neither of them put money [...]

Diane is completely blown away when police officers show up at her humble house and let her know her husband Gareth was involved in a helicopter accident She s in disbelief until she gets to the hospital and find out not only was her husband in a helicopter, but he s been hiding a whole family and many other things I m leaving a lot out, but trust me, you d rather not have me spoil it for you I wasn t quite sure what to expect when I read the synopsis, but it sure wasn t this This book is really [...]

    Rhoda Baxter

I really liked this book When Diane is summoned to hospital to see her husband who is injured in a helicopter crash, she finds that he has been lying to her for years The mystery of what her husband has been hiding from her unravels slowly and ties in beautifully with the budding romance between Diane and James Diane is a strong and admirable character It s nice to read about a heroine whose troubles and reactions are realistic James in a likeable hero It s nice to read about a man who is has al [...]

    La Chapman

Think the cover of this book lets it down, frankly It s relevant, being covered in the girlish sparkles the main character customizes her clothes with The storyline however is far from sparkly, the darkness behind the facade of outwardly successful marriages revealed after that single event, a helicopter crash Believable character growth from the main protagonist, I suppose if pushed I d say I felt the hero who emerges was a bit flimsily drawn if charitable that could be because it s not told f [...]

    Laura Smith

This is the first Sue Moorcroft book I have read and I LOVED it Want to know a Secret is a story that could happen in real life, and that s one of many reasons I loved it.Sue kept it real. When Diane s husband is injured in a helicopter crash, Diane s world is suddenly turned upside down Some major family secrets come out of the closet and threaten to destroy everything that Diane has worked hard But a silver lining in the shape of the handsome James could just be the thing to help Diane find her [...]

    Jozef Nakielski

I really enjoyed this one.The story of a country house wife who s husband has a big secret, written in third person perspective with two lead characters I know the area in England where it s based and the plot is quite real and possible It s a journey of life with unexpected twists and turns, highs and lows, and even some ups and downs It goes into each character, gives them some background, history, personality, character The problem with books like these is that they have and end I often wish [...]

    Mjl

I was hooked on this right from the outset of the best introductory chapters to a book ever The author describes a situation which, with no prior information, leaves the reader as confused, bewildered and disorientated as the lead character great way to extract instant empathy Then we follow her through the gradual destruction of the comfortable, doormat existence she allowed herself to tolerate and watch her grow to fight for a new better life for herself and those she loves Beautiful, compelli [...]

    Toni Sands

Different from earlier Sue Moorcroft books I d read but so, so rewarding I m not a seamstress but I loved the tiny, intricate swathes interwoven through the chapters and enjoyed heroine Diane s career prospects enhancing as her marriage became undone Beautifully finished, like the designer garments so perfectly described The characters are extremely human in this well crafted novel.
