Linda Byler has written a very cute story about the younger brother matchmaking his brother, Sim, with his teacher, Catherine Sim and Catherine seem quite stubborn and uncooperative Will Isaac finally give up on them ever getting together or will he remain persistent to the end I enjoyed seeing the one room Amish school children preparing for their annual Christmas play and program for their families It was very touching for Isaac to be so concerned about Ruthie and her stuttering problem He sho [...]
Reading The Little Amish Matchmaker by real life Amish newspaper columnist, Linda Byler, reminded me of my Jan Karon Mitford days from a long time agowhen the cadence of the writing felt a bit like meditating or praying Matchmaker is soothing, innocent and filled with a cornucopia of colorful details I felt that on every page I was meandering down Route 30 nibbling on a whoopie pie Thank you to my sweet niece who gave me this adorable book for Christmas
The Little Amish Matchmaker is a short story and very sweet It s about Isaac a 7th grader who tries to get his 21 year old brother Simon and his school teacher to go out on a date It s also about the school Christmas program coming up and how Isaac and 3 other children help a girl with her stuttering problem In The Little Amish Matchmaker you learn about the Amish traditions and how they go about their everyday life They had quite a snow storm and how they work around that One part told about ho [...]
What a sweet little story Given the title, I was expecting the matchmaker to be a young child Isaac was around 12 13, though, which actually worked to the betterment of the story.I liked how Isaac was a typical teenager, thought he knew a lot than people gave him credit for and, in reality, he did have some pretty keen insights, especially when it came to helping out a struggling classmate I also liked how he tried to encourage Simon, and then got frustrated when Simon wasn t doing what Isaac t [...]
This is a very sweet and funny story told with the opinions of a 7th grade Amish boy Isaac thinks his teacher, Catherine, is pretty wonderful and wants his older brother to ask her on a date He finally gives up trying to matchmake and can t understand why his brother would let the teacher slip away Isaac and some school friends help their classmate, Ruth, overcome her stuttering in time for the Christmas program I enjoyed Isaac s comments mostly to himself about girls and his sisters It was refr [...]

What a charming book The title is The Little Amish Matchmaker A Christmas Romance which is not quite right After all, a young man who is 7th grade is not little In the Amish world, he has one year of school Unlike most Amish romances, this one is told by Isaac the 7th grader who thinks his teacher is very special Isaac loves his big brother Simon, called Sim And Sim very much wants to find out if Isaac s teacher is the special person with whom he should spend the rest of his life.Isaac becomes [...]
Isaac is the youngest son in his family This book is written from his point of view of things Isaac loves being smart, he loves that his fellow classmates call him Professor because he is so smart But in the Amish community it is not good to be prideful Throughout this story Isaac tries to get his older brother, Sim, the only one still at home, all the rest of his siblings are married with children with his teacher Teacher Catherine But Sim is not interested in Isaac s meddling Will Isaac ever b [...]

It is exactly what it says on the cover a Christmas romance The story is told from the POV of a young boy who lives in an Amish community and sees the attraction developing between his school teacher and his brother He is too young to understand that these things take time and he tries to play match maker. The book is well written if a little sugar sweet and gives a glimpse of Amish life There are many Christian faith references but not too many as to put off a non Christian reader It is quite a [...]
I think this might have been my first Amish romance it seemed fine The story is told through the eyes of the 7th grade narrator, Isaac, the younger brother of Sim on , who has eyes for Isaac s lovely teacher, Catherine.Ms Byler gives Isaac a real feeling voice While I don t know any actual Amish preteens, I can imagine them being a bit like Isaac. This was an interesting change of pace for me, and if I m in the mood for another Amish story in the future, I ll look for of Ms Byler s work.
I got this book for my birthday as a gift and it was a wonderful and thoughtful gift at that It had all the makings of my favorite things an Amish novel, Christmas and romance but it s a short book and not really about any of those things at all The story is told from the perspective of a 13 year old Amish boy I think had it been longer they could have really xpanded on the themes but it really just reads as the immature thoughts of a young boy.
This book has an Amish setting in Lancaster, PA.Isaac is a young boy who lives on a farm with his big brother Simon His favorite teacher is Catherine Isaac has his heart set on getting Simon Catherine together. This book is set at Christmas and has a very nice Christmas Pageant in it I loved this book because it was easier to understand and read to my handicapped daughter.
