4 stars for a great suspense thriller by Canadian author Rick Mofina This is the first novel by this author that I have read and it did not disappoint me.Every Fear explores what happens when a child is abducted and the mother is involved in a hit and run and left for dead The investigation and search for the abductors is examined from all angles from the viewpoint of a reporter, a tough police investigator, the father of the abducted child and many other characters. If I have any criticism about [...]
A mother takes her baby son to the store, turns her back for a moment, only to find his stroller empty Reporter Jason Wade is under huge pressure to land a big story, and the kidnapping could be it Meanwhile a detective investigates a grisly murder, and parallels with the kidnapping start to arise Much like many hyper talented Australian and New Zealand crime writers can be hard to find instore or in the media in the northern hemisphere, Canada is packed with talented mystery wordsmiths who ofte [...]
The second Rick Mofina book I have read in the last few months, and another good book from him Maria Coulson has longed for a baby for years and was told she could never have one and by some miracle, she has Dylan, who is now 4 months old Her world revolves around him She takes him to the store and leaves him outside in his stroller with a teenage neighbour and when the young girl leaves him for one minute, he is snatched from the street and taken in a van at high speed, Marie is seriously injur [...]
Fabulous Every Fear is a fine example of Rick Mofina s very entertaining writing All of his novels that I ve read so far combine, in one story, Police Procedurals, Private Eye type investigations, Mystery, Suspense, a bit of Horror, with some Humour and Romance tossed in as well The style will keep you reading and turning pages well past bedtime Even late enough in the story that you have figured out the apparent culprit the twists will really keep your attention and for the most part are pretty [...]
Perfect thriller.Another excellent book by Rick Mofina, this book is as good as the first book in this series Fast moving thriller, you ll be holding your breath and hoping for good ending Next chapter will make you feel like jumping up and down Jason takes his reporting very seriously, digs and finds the real story behind the story Hope very soon he won t be going home just to feed his fish.
Great writing and an excellent story line Jason is likable and believable as a crime reporter chasing a lead into the the kidnapping of a baby in the few seconds his mother left him alone with a clerk in front of a store while she picked up a couple items The author takes a very overdone character reporter fighting his editor and makes it enjoyable Super suspense read.
Excellent, good strong characters, terrific plot, Rick Mofina keeps on getting better A great page turner.
I just realized I have already read this book I have liked every book by Rick Mofina
I love this book It starts out with a bang and doesn t let up until the very end It s a normal day when Maria Colson decides to drop by the supermarket for a few things She takes her baby, Dylan, along for some fresh air She arrives at the store and decides to leave Dylan outside with a clerk, since she will only be a few minutes As she is paying for her items, a commotion emerges outside She looks up to see the horrifying sight of Dylan s stroller on the ground and a woman running to a van She [...]
This sounded like the sort of mystery I d like, and it clearly struck a chord with many goodreaders I listened to the audiobook edition and confess that I gave up after listening to 40% of the book The concept of a bulldog newspaper reporter Jason Wade seeking to solve the mysterious abduction of a baby is a good one However, the characters all seemed stereotypical The dialog is mostly in short, clipped phrases The point of view is continually shifting, often first person of whatever character i [...]
Pretty good Though I did enjoy the first book in this series a little , this installment was pretty solid too I just had a harder time getting into the story, but once I did it was great That being said, I don t know if it was actually started off a bit slow or if I just wasn t in the right mindset for it Anyway, I ve already purchased the next in the series and I m looking forward to reading it.
An excellent mystery Rick Mofina uses his skills as a former reporter to add the qualityof the prose using the dialogue of the characters Jason Wade top crime reporter Vows of enforcement Homicide Detective Grace Garner and the emotional parents of Dylan Colson the abducted infant. You can t forget the insane Nadine.EVERY FEAR is the second book in the Jason Wade trilogy. The first THE DYING HOUR.And the third THE PERFECT GRAVE CAN T WAIT TO READ
This was my 2nd book in this series I enjoyed both of them Jason is a very likeable character, and once again I found myself pulling for him I wanted to tell his boss off for him Soon I will get the 3rd book I have to know what the secret is with Jason s father Great book, I can honestly say never a dull moment.
Rick Mofina has stepped it up in this second Jason Wade book Having made his name as a reporter somewhat in the first book, Jason is hot on the heels of another explosive story as he investigates the kidnapping of a baby left in a pram outside a store and the hit run injury to his mother as she runs out to try and save her son Good stuff.
Another excellent nail biter from an author who is, in my mind, one of the most under appreciated in the business Treat yourself to this roller coaster of a ride about a search for a missing Seattle baby and his kidnappers and then go on to read other stories by this prolific and skillful author You won t be disappointed I guarantee it.
Exceptional Wow What a ride Thrilling from beginning to end A woman is in a store, here baby in a stroller outside with a teenager employee, then the worst happens as this mom watches her baby get snatched, and tries a harrowing rescue that almost cost her her life Now the twists of a sick woman s mind enters the story, and the explosive ending WOW
A really good page turner A combination of good detective work and good investigative journalism My only problem was the ending where Maria, the mother is on her death bed one day and is racing across a bridge wrestling with the kidnapper for her baby the next day a bit of a stretch
Another great read Mr Mofina does an excellent job of conveying frustration, excitement, disappointment and all the feelings that I like in a good thriller He is a master at his job I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I really liked this book it was fast paced and had me interested from the start I will be looking for of his books
Excellent Right to the very last line Mr Mofina gets better with every book I m headed to the third Jason Wade right now.
Wow this was a great book Quick read but interesting and intense.
Good readEnjoyed the suspense and pace of this novel It really keeps your attention I read it because I liked the first of his books in this series.
The personal stories of the characters in this book are weak and simplistic The crime itself is the only reason to keep turning the pages.
Amazing bookA great book as always I love Rick Mofina s stories, they are well thought out and keep your interest throughout the entire book You won t want to put it down.
The second Jason Wade book in series by author Rick Mofina, Every Fear , is an excellent page turning thriller More suspenseful and exciting than first book in series, this one races with action and adventure galore Seven month old Dylan Colson is kidnapped off the sidewalk as his mother stops in a local convenience store Mother Maria Colson dashes out of store to prevent baby from being kidnapped, but instead is hit by get away van Badly injured Maria is in hospital fighting for her life as pol [...]
3.5 STARS On an ordinary morning, Maria Colson takes her baby son Dylan to the corner store She only turns her back for a few seconds When she looks again, she sees his empty stroller, at the same time he is being abducted into a waiting van Maria climbs onto the van, but is violently thrown to the road where she is left for dead as the van vanishes without a trace. As Maria fights for her life and her anguished young husband keeps a beside vigil, The FBI and police across metro Sea Tac and Washi [...]
Every Fear was aptly named and likely a fear of most relatively new mothers who tend to want to protect every tiny thing from happening to their baby The problem is that with an 8 month old baby, probably at the teething stage, fussy, and out of sorts, a parent may get just the tiny bit lax in judgment So it is with Maria Colson as she leaves her little one at the store entrance to go inside for a couple items with a clerk who has previously watched him on than one occasion that edge of trust j [...]
Book 2 Jason WadeWHEW What a ride Every Fear was every bit the thriller that books 1 3 were Rick Mofina knows how to grab hold of your imagination and not let go until the last sentence is completed This book follows Jason Wade, a rookie reporter for the Seattle Mirror, as he digs in to find the stories beneath the kidnapping of a 7 month old baby and the subsequent near fatal injuring of the mother in the process As things spiral out the trail leads to two brutal murders and leaves Jason and th [...]
This story begins with a woman who walks down to the local market with her baby She leaves the baby outside with a grocery worker to run in and grab a couple of things Next thing you know, a van approaches and someone takes the child The mother is hit by the van as she tries to rescue the child and she ends up in a coma The search is on for the abducted child A newspaper reporter begins his own investigation in an effort to get the best story for his struggling paper This story has twists and tu [...]
As with most Rick Mofina books, once I started reading it I wanted to keep on going until the story was fully told This book is the second one featuring Jason Wade, a reporter for a Seattle newspaper struggling to stay ahead in the ratings battle for news His boss Spangler is just plain nasty and makes it very difficult for Justin to work in a way he feels is morally and ethically sound I apparently read the first book of the series in 2012, but only have a vague recollection of the details I en [...]
