I would like to give this book to school age kids to read before a trip to Paris It gives a good sense of Paris history and culture in context of the landmarks they ll see I could have done without the lame talk balloon jokes but then, I m not a third grader, maybe they re actually uproariously funny.
I must first admit that I am a bit of a connoisseur and collector of travel books Further, I actually like to read these travel guides, even if I m not planning on visiting the subject destination at any point in the near future I find these guides a really good way to get to know a place As a parent with children, I ve added the traveling with kids and the guide for kids type books to my travel genre reading list These Not For Parents Lonely Planet guidebooks are among the best I ve found for f [...]
Bola velmi zaujimava , naucna a smiesna.
Paris is my favorite city in the world, and I ve talked about it so much that my eight year old daughter is entranced by the idea of it She can be something of a reluctant reader, so I try to pick up books that I think might spark her interest While she did seem to like this one and, while it claims not to be for parents, I can honestly say that I think Mom was a much enthusiastic reader of it.The book is a series of two page spreads, each devoted to a theme with accompanying photos and fun fac [...]
Paris Everything You Ever Wanted to know is a fantastic book written by Klay Lamprell It is a prefect book for children, because clearly this book is Not For Parents Do you know that one of the six Parisians owns a dog Do you know that under Paris there is a city of bones Those information that you know or might not know, and maybe never think about them are all in the book This book tells people all interesting history about Paris, unlike normal history book this book tells people intriguing st [...]
Tends to trivialise history and culture, and though much of the content is technically harmless other than its trivial tone, some is not really helpful for young readers, drawing attention to aspects of culture they don t really need to dwell on view spoiler For example, the section on City of Love shows contemporary couples kissing in the street noteworthy for kids and a statue by Rodin of a naked couple kissing with the caption no prizes for guessing what s going on in this statue The picture [...]
This is an informational book about Paris that is specifically directed at kids It is an informational book because it is non fiction and gives a multitude of information on a certain subject The series that this book is a part of has several different books on other major cities in the world as well, such as London, New York, Rome, etc It includes pictures of people, places, buildings, food, historical landmarks, and other things you would find in Paris It also gives descriptions of each of the [...]
Not for Parents Paris Everything You Ever Wanted to Know by Margaret Hynes is a fun read for children about Paris They will learn some of the traditions and customs of this country, fun facts, and history This book talks about so many different things you don t get bored This book is set up similarly to the Ripley s Believe it or Not books Very educational read for kids.2015 Summer Reading Review
I love this series Sure, it s targeted for teens, but I learned tons of delightful trivia from both this book and the London book in the series I have zero plans or desire to head to Rome anytime soon, but just reserved the Rome book in this same series to learn And possibly change my opinion about Rome because I don t currently hold much love for it, comparatively speaking I mean if you want to send me there, that s cool, I ll give it another chance.
Cute, informative book that moves at a very brisk pace, making it perfect for kids with short attention spans. Each topic is touched on briefly with the basic facts, then a few additional lesser known fun bits of information There isn t a great amount of detail just brief snippets but it s a great jumping off point to discuss each topic further.
A wonderful, informative, colourful gem of a book, packed full of wonderful facts and tidbits I learnt quite a bit from it, and definitely want to seek out some new things whenever I m fortunate enough to get to Paris next Even though this series is called Not For Parents it s much too good to leave to the kids
A fun little book to read, not just for children but adults too.
Ik heb het in Nederlands geleesd Ik vind het niet zo goed zoals de andere boeken van deze schriver, maar het is toch een leuk boek.
